SV Roamer

Upon returning from the sail to the South Pacific, Jack bought what is described as a “sloop” which he named Roamer.  But photos show a second mast fairly far aft, rigged as a yawl.  It’s likely that he added the second mast very close to the stern.

This was smaller than the Snark, but seems to have been his primary yacht for the rest of his life.

Jack sailed extensively in the Delta and rivers, but he berthed Roamer at the Vallejo Yacht Club.  He is known to have anchored among the floating brothels near Pittsburg while writing.
